Overcoming dental anxiety: Your road to a healthier smile

There are however a range of different ways you can help ease any anxieties you may have, and these are:

• Ensure your appointment is booked for the morning, by doing this you won’t be consistently thinking about it throughout the day

• Consistency is key, try and see the same clinician when you come in for your appointments as seeing a familiar face may help

• Contact the practice before any procedures, this way you can answer any questions you may have and will not be going into the appointment with the fear of the unknown, our dentists and reception team are always happy to help.

• Bring some headphones to distract yourself during any procedures, we also take music requests!

• Bring a family member or friend along with you for some support

• It is important to remember that your initial visit with us will be an examination so the dentist will only be looking, they also won’t do anything you aren’t comfortable with.

• Ease yourself in gradually, our dentists will often recommend starting with the least invasive dental treatments to build your confidence before tackling anything more complex.
