Maintaining healthy teeth and gums

We recommended brushing the teeth and gums twice a day using an electric toothbrush or a good quality manual toothbrush. This aids good brushing and helps prevent tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath.

Using a small headed toothbrush is always best as it is easier to move around the mouth. Bristles should be soft or medium, as using a hard bristle brush may damage your gums.

We also recommend the use of dental floss or tape, or 'te-pe' interdental brushes once a day. Using these helps to remove plaque and food debris from between the teeth, which can irritate the gums and cause bad breath.

Our dentists and hygienists are available to give advice on which aids are most suited to your needs.
