Endodontic treatment

Dealing with problems inside a tooth

Endodontics is a specialist field of dentistry which focuses on diagnosing and treating problems that can occur deep inside a tooth - such as within the roots (which hold each tooth firmly in its socket) or the pulp (which carries the blood vessels and nerves to each tooth).

If a root becomes damaged due to injury or decay, then infection can set in and a deep abscess may form. Without treatment the tooth will die and require extraction - but modern root canal treatment can save most teeth that are affected in this way.
